Ha Tinh lemon is destined for high economic efficiency in Quang Binh
Thanks to boldly converting crops and applying high technology to production, focusing on converting inefficient crops to crops with high economic value, especially citrus trees such as oranges and grapefruits. Ha Tinh lemon trees have been charming and bring economic efficiency to the people.

Ha Tinh lemon trees have fallen in love with the land of Quang Binh.
Truong Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) is a locality with a large natural area, of which, agricultural production land accounts for 70%. Promoting this strength, over the past time, the commune has boldly mobilized people to convert crops and apply high technology to production, focusing on converting inefficient crops to high-value fruit trees, especially citrus trees such as oranges, etc pomelo.
In Truong Thuy, Hien Ninh honey oranges have long been considered a precious specialty of the region. Hien Ninh honey orange trees bring higher economic efficiency than many other crops, so they are planted by people here and are increasingly replicated. In addition to Hien Ninh honey orange varieties, in order to create conditions to help Truong Thuy farmers access techniques and source quality and suitable seedlings, in 2018, the Quang Binh Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Extension Center also supported the planting of 3 hectares of Khe May orange and Xa Doai orange varieties. The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Le Thuy district supports 1.2 hectares of Ha Tinh lemon varieties for trial planting.
Ms. Tran Thi Hanh’s family (Truong Giang village, Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) has 4 orange poles. According to her assessment, Ha Tinh lemon trees are bringing economic benefits to the people here.
Ms. Hang shared: Before planting oranges on hilly land, I used to grow peanuts, cassava, rubber, pepper… but planting any tree is difficult, planting rubber causes storms to fall, and pepper plants are infected all year round. By 2015, the Center for Agricultural Extension and Fishery Extension had a project to support orange planting, my family boldly invested in converting Hien Ninh honey orange trees into planting.

Suitable for the soil, orange trees grow and develop well, giving the wrong fruits.
According to Ms. Hanh, orange trees are suitable for Truong Thuy soil, take root and grow green, giving high income. Starting in 2020, Ms. Hanh’s orange orchard has harvested the first crop. In accordance with the conditions of the land, soil, and climate, it is harvested every year. This year, there was a day when her family harvested more than 2 quintals of oranges to sell to consumers. At the time of the season, the price of oranges ranges from 20 to 25 thousand VND/kg. In the 2024 orange crop, the family’s orange output will reach more than 2.5 tons, giving an income of about 60 million VND…
Mr. Do Duy Tinh (Huong Thi village, Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district) is one of the pioneer households in converting from acacia to growing Ha Tinh lemon varieties.
Mr. Tinh shared: Being supported by the Provincial Center for Agricultural and Fishery Extension with seeds, planting techniques and care, I am very assured of production. Like many orange and grapefruit growing households in Truong Thuy commune, my orchard is planted according to scientific methods, according to directions, according to rows, with a reasonable irrigation system. Fertilizer for the garden is fresh manure composted with probiotics.
When the tree reaches the point of bearing fruit, fertilizer must be applied 3 times a year (when the tree blooms and blooms in early spring, fertilize when the tree bears fruit and fertilize after harvesting so that the tree recovers). This type of organic fertilizer not only produces clean products but also limits pests and diseases of crops. When the tree bears fruit, use a net to avoid bee stings, absolutely do not use spray on the fruit, affecting the health of consumers.

Bringing economic efficiency, the people of Quang Binh are increasingly expanding the area of Ha Tinh lemon cultivation.
Mr. Tran Cong Sau – Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Truong Thuy commune shared: Currently, there are nearly 50 households in the locality that have converted inefficient lands to grow citrus trees, such as: Hien Ninh honey orange, Vu Quang orange, V2 orange, green-skinned grapefruit, tea grapefruit… for an annual income of 50 – 300 million VND. At the same time, the commune has established a clean agricultural cooperative for planting citrus trees and a professional branch of orange farmers.
Along with Hien Ninh honey orange, Ha Tinh lemon orange, V2 orange is also one of the orange varieties selected by the locality to build OCOP products, towards building the Truong Thuy orange brand. Hopefully, in the coming time, Truong Thuy oranges will reach further in out-of-province markets.
Up to now, oranges have started to bear fruit in the 5th year, every tree is full of branches. The “earthy” Ha Tinh lemon variety Truong Thuy has really conquered gourmet guests because of its sweet taste, when peeling out juicy and fragrant oranges, not inferior to oranges in the original land./.
